1. What does my Andrex® Puppy do?
A. Your Andrex® Puppy is a Windows program which will entertain
you. Your Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation can perform
many Puppy tricks right on your computer! At the same time, the
bone-shaped Puppy Info Screen will give lots of up to date
news and information about your Andrex® Puppy and Andrex®.

A. There is no charge from us to download the Andrex® Puppy.

3. Q. How does it work?
A. The Andrex® Puppy has several parts:
INSTALLATION:
If you were lucky enough to receive an e-mail telling you about
the Andrex® Puppy, clicking on the button marked 'Download
Now' will take you to the Puppy Download Page. Once there,
the download of your Andrex® Puppy will take place automatically
after a few moments. If it does not, click on the 'Download Now'
button on this page.
You will be presented with a message box which will give you the
option to 'Open' or 'Save'. Selecting 'Open'
will download the file called 'Andrex_Puppy.exe' to your
computer. Once the download is complete, the program will start
automatically and will give you instructions to install the program.
Selecting 'Save' will prompt you to save the file 'Andrex_Puppy.exe'
to a location you specify on your computer's hard drive. After choosing
the location, the file will start downloading. After download is
complete, navigate to the location you saved the file called 'Andrex_Puppy.exe'
to and double-click its icon to start the program. The program
will then give you instructions to begin installation.
Do not double-click on 'Andrex_Puppy.exe' file again after
you've installed the Andrex® Puppy to start the program again. This
file is only used to install the Andrex® Puppy to your system.
Installing the Andrex® Puppy will create a shortcut on your
Windows Desktop called 'Run Andrex® Puppy'. If you've
closed the Andrex® Puppy program, and you'd like to start it again,
double-click on the 'Run Andrex® Puppy' shortcut on your
Desktop.
You can also start the Andrex® Puppy program by clicking on your
Windows Start Button and selecting Programs > Andrex
> Start Andrex® Puppy.
OPENING SCREEN:
After the Andrex® Puppy installs, the program will start immediately.
You will first see the Opening Screen which will provide
instructions and will allow you to choose various settings which
affect the program's behaviour. Clicking on the 'Play' button
will start the Andrex® Puppy itself.
INTERACTIVE ANDREX® PUPPY ANIMATION:
The Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation appears below
the bone-shaped Puppy Info Screen (see below). You can make
your Andrex® Puppy do tricks by
right-clicking on him and choosing a trick or behaviour from the
menu which
appears.
Your Andrex® Puppy will let you know if he has learnt a new
trick, or if
new content has been added to the Andrex® Puppy website through
the Puppy
Info Screen. If you do not interact with the Andrex® Puppy,
he will scamper
across your screen doing tricks by himself until you right-click
on him
again.
If you wish to hide the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation:
• Right-click on the Puppy Face Icon in the bottom
right-hand corner of your screen and select 'Hide My Puppy'
from the Options Menu which appears.
To show the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation, you can:
• Double-click on the Puppy Face Icon in the bottom
right-hand corner of your screen (see below)
or
• Right-click on the Puppy Face Icon and select 'Show
My Puppy' from the Options Menu which appears.
PUPPY FACE ICON:
You will also notice after installing the Andrex® Puppy a small
icon in your Windows Taskbar's ToolTray (usually found at
the bottom right-hand corner of your screen near the clock display)
that will look like a Puppy face. When new information becomes available,
the Andrex® Puppy will alert you by flashing this icon on and off
and popping up an alert box. This allows you to be notified of new
information even when the Puppy Info Screen is closed.
You can also control the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation
and Puppy Info Screen from the Puppy Face Icon by
right-clicking on it. This will produce an Options Menu
that will allow you to control the Andrex® Puppy.
These options are:
• Hide or Show My Puppy
• Close or Open the Puppy Info Screen
• Check for Updates
This command will update the Puppy Info Screen with the most
recent information from our website, and check for new Puppy tricks
if they're available. If a new update is available, the Puppy Face
Icon will alert you.
• Switch Off Puppy Updates: This option will keep the
Puppy Info Screen from updating automatically. You may still
update manually by selecting 'Check For Updates'.
• Run on Startup: Use this command to determine whether or
not the Andrex® Puppy program should start automatically when your
computer starts up.
• Always Visible: This command will ensure that your
Andrex® Puppy is always in front of all other applications running
on your Desktop. If the Puppy Info Screen or Interactive
Andrex® Puppy Animation seem to have disappeared, they're probably
behind a program window you have maximized. If you want to make
sure they don't disappear unexpectedly in this way, choose this
option.
• Uninstall: This will remove your Andrex® Puppy completely
from your computer's system. All that would remain is the original
program you downloaded called 'Andrex_Puppy.exe' in case
you wished to install the Andrex® Puppy again.
• Help: This command will launch your web browser and display
your Andrex® Puppy's FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page.
• About: Contains product information about your Andrex®
Puppy.
• Exit: Use this command to completely quit your Andrex®
Puppy program. Choosing 'Exit' completely shuts down the program
so that the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation, Puppy
Info Screen, and Puppy Face Icon will stop running completely.
To start the Andrex® Puppy again, double-click on the shortcut
on your Windows Desktop called 'Run Andrex® Puppy'.
You can also start the Andrex® Puppy program by clicking on your
Windows Start Button and selecting Programs > Andrex >
Run Andrex® Puppy.
PUPPY INFO SCREEN:
The bone-shaped Puppy Info Screen displays information. The
Puppy Info Screen will check for the latest information from the
Andrex® Puppy website and will display it in the 'What's New' section
when it's available.
When new information becomes available, the Puppy Face Icon
will alert you by flashing on and off and popping up an alert box.
This allows you to be notified of new updated information even when
the Puppy Info Screen is closed.
MENU BUTTONS:
On the left hand side of the Puppy Info Screen you will find
small menu buttons which allow you to navigate to different
sections within the Puppy Info Screen. These sections are:
• WHAT'S NEW:
This section will update periodically with new information about
the Andrex® Puppy, often with links to tricks or new information
on the Andrex® Puppy website.
• SEND TO A FRIEND:
If you wish to send a friend a copy of the Andrex® Puppy, clicking
on this button will produce a form that you can fill out and submit.
Doing so will send your friend an e-mail containing a link where
he or she can download an Andrex® Puppy of their very own!
• VISIT MY WEBSITE:
Click on this area to visit the Andrex® Puppy website!
• MY COLLECTION:
Click on this area to visit the Puppy Collection!
• YOUR VIEWS:

CONTROL BUTTONS:
Near the top right side of the Puppy Info Screen are two
Control Buttons. The Control Buttons are from left to right:
• HELP (?):
This button will launch your web browser and display your Andrex®
Puppy's FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page.
• CLOSE (X):
This button will close your Puppy Info Screen. The Puppy
Info Screen will still run minimized so it can keep checking for
new updates even when it's not visible.
To re-open the Puppy Info Screen, you can:
• Double click on the Puppy Face Icon
in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen
or
• Right-click on the Puppy Face Icon and select 'Open
Puppy Info Screen' from the Options Menu which appears.
The Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation will remain on the
screen when the Puppy Info Screen is closed.
To close the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation:
• Right-click on the Puppy Face Icon and select 'Hide
My Puppy' from the Options Menu which appears.

4. Q. How long does it take to download
my Andrex® Puppy?
A. Depending on your connection to the Internet the download time
will vary. On a 56K modem the download will take approximately two
to four minutes.

5. Q. What software is needed to run my Andrex®
Puppy?
A. None! The Andrex® Puppy will run on any computer with the Windows
95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP operating system.

6. Q. How do I close my Andrex® Puppy?
A. The Andrex® Puppy has two different parts that can be closed
separately, the Puppy Info Screen and the Interactive
Andrex® Puppy Animation.
While either one is closed, the program itself remains running,
as indicated by the presence of the Puppy Face Icon in the
bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
To close the Puppy Info Screen:
• Click on the Close Button (X) on the Puppy Info Screen.
or
• Right-click on the Puppy Face Icon and select 'Close
Puppy Info Screen' from the Options Menu which appears.
To close the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation:
• Right-click on the Puppy Face Icon and select 'Hide
My Puppy' from the Options Menu which appears.
To exit completely out of the program:
• Right-click the Puppy Face Icon and select 'Exit'
from the Options Menu which appears.
or
• Right-click the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation
and select 'Exit' from the Options Menu which
appears.

7. Q. Why does the Puppy Face icon flash and produce
an alert box in the lower-right hand corner of my screen?
A. The Puppy Face Icon will start to flash and an alert box
will be shown when your puppy has learnt a new trick or new information
is available in the What's New section of the Puppy Info Screen.
By clicking on the alert, you will open the Puppy Info Screen if
it is closed and display the new information. If you wish to hide
the alerts, click on the checkbox marked 'Do Not Show This Alert
Again'. The Puppy Face Icon will continue to flash if there
are new updates, however.
If you do not wish to receive updates at all, right-click
on the Puppy Face Icon and check 'Switch Off Puppy Updates'
from the options menu which appears.

8. Q. How do I tell all my friends about the Andrex®
Puppy?
A. Just click on the 'Send To A Friend' button on the Puppy
Info Screen. This will bring up a form where you can send an e-mail
to your friend. When your friend receives the e-mail, they will
get a link to the website where they can download the Andrex® Puppy
for themselves.

9. Q. How do I get my Andrex® Puppy off my computer?
A. The Andrex® Puppy is very easy to uninstall. It can be uninstalled
from many places on the Andrex® Puppy.
• Click 'Uninstall' on the Puppy Info Screen.
or
• Right-click the Puppy Face Icon and select 'Uninstall'
from the Options Menu which appears.
or
• Right-click the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation
and select 'Uninstall' from the Options Menu which
appears.
or
• From your Windows Start Button, and choosing Programs
> Andrex > Uninstall Andrex® Puppy.
or
• From Add and Remove Programs, from your Windows Control
Panel.
After uninstalling, only the original program icon called 'Andrex_Puppy.exe'
will remain in the location you downloaded it to (in case you
wish to install your Andrex® Puppy again). If that will not be the
case, delete the icon as you would any other.

10. Q. My Andrex® Puppy doesn't seem to be receiving any
information. Why?
A. The Andrex® Puppy needs to connect to our web server to receive
the latest information on new tricks and website content in the
Puppy Info Screen. An internet connection will need to be
running so that it can access this information. After you go online,
the Andrex® Puppy should automatically try and access the latest
information.
If you are online and you fail to receive any updates, check to
see if your program is set up to receive updates by right-clicking
on the Puppy Face Icon in the bottom right-hand corner
of your screen, and making sure 'Switch Off Puppy Updates' is
unchecked from the options menu which appears.
If you have a personal firewall, such as ZoneAlarm, it may be preventing
the Puppy from downloading updates. You should enable access to
the Internet for the Andrex® Puppy.
If you are online and you still do not receive the latest information
in the Puppy Info Screen, we may be having a problem with our web
server, in which case you may need to wait until our server is back
online.
A lack of new information may also mean that the Andrex® Puppy is
encountering network problems and will get the latest information
as soon as the network problems are resolved.

11. Q. Every time I restart my machine the Andrex® Puppy
keeps starting up with it. Why? How do I stop this?
A. The Andrex® Puppy is designed to run when your computer is switched
on. This way it will be up-to-date with today’s content. To prevent
the Andrex® Puppy from starting up with your computer, you will
need to uncheck 'Run on Startup' from the Andrex® Puppy's
Options Menu.
To stop the program from starting up every time you restart
your computer:
• Right-click the Puppy Face Icon and uncheck 'Run
on Startup' from the Options Menu which appears.
or
• Right-click the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation
and uncheck 'Run on Startup' from the Options Menu
which appears.

12. Q. I thought I closed my Andrex® Puppy, but I still
see an icon in the bottom right-hand corner of my screen, and the
Puppy is still there. Why?
A. You must completely exit out of the Andrex® Puppy program for
all parts of the Andrex® Puppy to disappear.
This is different from closing the Puppy Info Screen (see
above) by clicking on its Close Button (X). Clicking on the Close
Button only closes the Puppy Info Screen from view, while the Interactive
Andrex® Puppy Animation and Puppy Face Icon remain running.
This was done because a lot of people like to keep the Interactive
Andrex® Puppy Animation running, but want to close the Puppy Info
Screen. This way, the program can still keep checking for updates,
even with the Puppy Info Screen closed.
To hide the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation:
• Right-click on the Puppy Face Icon and select 'Hide
My Puppy' from the Options Menu which appears.
To exit completely out of the program:
• Right-click the Puppy Face Icon and select 'Exit'
from the Options Menu which appears.
or
• Right-click the Interactive Andrex® Puppy Animation
and select 'Exit' from the Options Menu which
appears.

13. Q. My Andrex® Puppy appears in strange colours.
Why isn't he the right colour?
A. Your Andrex® Puppy may not appear the right colour if your
Windows Display Properties Setting is set to '256 Colors'.
Your Andrex® Puppy is designed to display in at least a 'High
Color' setting.
To increase the number of colours Windows displays:
• Right-click on your Desktop.
• Select Properties from the popup menu which displays.
• Select the 'Settings' tab in the 'Display Properties'
window which appears.
• Choose either 'High Color - 16 bit' or 'True Color
- 32 Bit' from the Colors dropdown menu on the left.
• Click the OK button.

14. Q. What is the file size of the Andrex® Puppy?
A. The Andrex® Puppy was designed to be as small as possible to
make it very easy to download or to e-mail to your friends. The
current file size is about 750 KB.

16. Q. How do I know that the Andrex® Puppy does
not include a virus?
A. In order to ensure that the Andrex® Puppy does not contain a
virus, follow these steps:
1. Download it directly from our website and this will ensure it
is virus-free.
2. If you are uncertain about one you have received in an email,
check it with an anti-virus program.
3. It is a good idea not to run anything you are e-mailed, even
if it is from a friend, until you check with them that they intended
to send it to you.
